腌黄瓜
起源
西方有传言说腌黄瓜是为建造万里长城的中国工人发明的[1]，另一种说法是腌黄瓜是美索不达米亚人用印度进口的黄瓜做成的[2]。
名称
在英国、爱尔兰、澳大利亚、新西兰和南非，腌黄瓜叫做“Gherkin”[3]。法国人称之为“Cornichon”[4]。美国人和加拿大人则习惯称之为“pickle”。此外东欧等地的人们也有不同的叫法。如匈牙利人一般把醋腌黄瓜叫做“savanyú uborka”，但他们在夏天会制作不用醋而用盐腌的酸黄瓜，即“kovászos uborka”[5]。
