小熊座矮星系 是罗威尔天文台的A.G. Wilson在1954年发现的一个矮椭圆星系，它位于小熊座内，是银河系的一个卫星星系。这个星系的成员都是老年的恒星，看起来在小熊座矮星系只有极少甚至已经没有在形成中的恒星。
演化历史
1999年，肯尼斯‧米格尔（Kenneth Mighell）和克里斯多福‧伯克（Christopher Burke）共同使用了哈伯太空望远镜，证实在140亿年前有一段持续了约20亿年之久的恒星形成爆炸期[4]。
