仙女座 Ⅸ是在2004年被Zucker等人从史隆数位巡天的恒星测光仪中解析而发现的星系。它是位于仙女座的一个矮椭球星系,也是仙女座星系的卫星星系。[2]在发现之际,它是已知的星系中表面光度最低的ΣV~26.8mags arcsec-2,并且是本质的绝对星等最暗的星系。[2]

仙女座 Ⅸ是从史隆数位巡天在2002年10月5日沿着M31的长轴方向扫描得到的数据中检出的,McConnacrchie等人估计他的距离与M31几乎完全相同(2005)。
