系外彗星

系外彗星太阳系外彗星是在太阳系之外,环绕着其它恒星彗星。第一个系外彗星系是在1987年发现的,它环绕着绘架座β (老人增四),一颗非常年轻的A型主序星[1][2]。迄2013年1月7日,总共已经发现了10个这样的系统[1][3]

天文学家使用德州麦克唐纳天文台2.1米的望远镜发现了最后的6个彗星系统。在检测用的望远镜中,发现暗淡的吸收线,被发现夜复一夜的变化著,因此天文学家认为这是"起源于撒向母恒星的彗星,因为被加热而产生大量气体云造成的"[1][3]。所有的系外彗星都是最近才检测到的 - 换句话说,"鲸鱼座49 (HD 9672)"、"狐狸座5 (HD 182919)"、"仙女座2"、"HD 21620"、 "HD 42111"和"HD 110411" - 被环绕的都是非常年轻的A型恒星[3]

系外彗星连结了研究人员对行星形成理解的重要环结。天文学家巴里·威尔士 (Barry Welsh) 对这种连结做了如下的描述: “星际尘埃重力的影响下成为小滴,这些小滴继续成长成为岩石,岩石结合在一起成为更大的个体 -星子 (微星) 和彗星- 并且在最后,会成长为行星[3]
