萨默维尔陨石坑

萨默维尔陨石坑(Somerville)是月球正面东部赤道区上的一座小撞击坑，其名称取自苏格兰科普作家和博学者玛丽·费尔法克斯·萨默维尔(1780年-1872年)，1976年被国际天文联合会正式批准接受。

描述

该陨坑西侧毗邻醒目的朗伦环形山；东北靠近玻恩陨石坑；巴克拉陨石坑位于它的西南；往西，越过朗伦环形山则坐落着丰富海^[1]。该陨坑的中心月面坐标为8°20′S 64°58′E / 8.33°S 64.96°E / -8.33; 64.96，直径17.1公里^[2]，深度3.08公里^[3]。

萨默维尔陨石坑是一座圆碗状的撞击坑，西南边缘略向外凸出，整体已受到侵蚀和磨损。陨坑外侧壁几乎被夷平，西北侧连接着更大但并不显眼的卫星坑"朗伦 H"。碗状的坑底崎岖不平，内部没有其它典型的地貌特征。

该陨坑是月球上为数不多的以女性名命名的撞击坑，在1976年正式命名前，曾被指名为卫星坑"朗伦 J"。
