Selfridges（官方不使用译名，[2]亦称Selfridge & Co.）是一家英国的高档百货公司，由哈里·戈登·塞尔福里奇于1909年创立，其位于伦敦牛津街的旗舰店在1909年3月15日开业，是目前仅次于哈洛德百货公司的英国第二大百货商店。[3]
几经转手之后，[4]在1965年被西尔斯百货收购，[5]在西尔斯百货的运营下从伦敦扩展到了曼彻斯特和伯明翰。[6]2003年被加拿大商人盖伦·韦斯顿以5.98亿英镑的价格收购。[7] 2013年该公司的历史搬上了银幕，拍成英国电视剧《塞尔福里奇先生》。[8]
历史
1909年哈利·戈登·塞尔福里奇在牛津街创办了这家公司，他依靠在店内举办各种教育和科学展来提升其名气，例如1909年路易·布莱里奥横跨英吉利海峡所用的单翼机就曾在这里展出过，吸引了上万人前来参观。塞尔福里奇本人和马歇尔·菲尔德通常被认为是英语俗语“the customer is always right”（顾客永远是对的）的发明人，而塞尔福里奇公司也经常以此来宣传。[9]
1920年代到30年代，商店的屋顶常用作花园、咖啡屋、迷你高尔夫球场和女子射击场之用。再加上从这里能看到伦敦市景，因为渐渐出名，一些时装秀也特意选在这里举办。二战期间这栋建筑遭到炸弹袭击，虽然整个建筑没有被炸毁，但是屋顶的花园已经毁掉了，之后直到2009年都没能再次开张。[10]
1932年商店里还设有一个地震仪，1947年赠给大英博物馆。二战期间盟军使用的第二台大型密电系统SIGSALY自1943年以来也安装在商店的地下室中。[11]
1926年开始设立分店“Selfridge Provincial Store” ，后来一度扩张到了16家，但1940年全部卖给约翰路易斯合伙公司。而牛津街的塞尔福里奇在1951年被利物浦的一家公司Lewis's收购，1965年西尔斯百货收购了Lewis's，因此也一并收购塞尔福里奇。[5]在西尔斯百货旗下，塞尔福里奇公司开办了伊尔福德和牛津店，其店名也一直沿用到1986年，当年被西尔斯百货并到“Lewis's”旗下。1990年又重新分开，1998年随着其曼彻斯特特拉福德中心店的开张，从希尔斯百货分离出来，开始采用现在的商标。当年也宣布了曼彻斯特市中心贸易广场店的开张消息，此店在2002年开张。2003年伯明翰商业区“Bull Ring”店开张。[12]
