金牛座RV型变星
金牛RV型变星是超巨星变星，它们表现在亮度上的变化与径向上的脉动变化息息相关，在亮度上的变化也与光谱型有关。当它们变亮时，恒星的光谱类型是F到G，而当变暗时，光谱会变成K或M。亮度变动的周期通常是30至150天，并且有主极小和次极小交替出现的行为，光度的极大度和极小值在亮度上可以相差到4星等。金牛RV型变星有分成两种类型的4个子分类：
- RVa型变星：这一类型的金牛RV型变星的平均光度不变。
- RVb型变星：这一类型的金牛RV型变星的平均光度会呈现周期性的变化，使它们的极大光度和极小光度在600至1,500天的时间尺度上变动。
这种变星的原型，金牛座RV是一颗RVb型变星，它的光度变化在+9.8和+13.3等之间，有规律的周期是78.7天。
