Lokomotif DD 50 adalah salah satu lokomotif uap mallet terbesar di Indonesia selain Lokomotif DD51 dan DD52 dengan susunan roda 2-8-8-0 yang dibeli oleh Staatsspoorwegen. Lokomotif DD50 memiliki kemiripan dengan lokomotif DD51. Di masa akhirnya, diketahui pada tahun 1950-an tersisa dua Lokomotif DD50, salah satu unit disimpan di Stasiun Purwakarta. Bersama lokomotif DD51 dan DD52, seluruh unit lokomotif ini telah habis tak tersisa karena sudah punah dirucat atau dijadikan besi tua. Tidak ada satu unitpun seri lokomotif ini yang dipreservasi, sehingga tidak ada wujud peninggalannya sama sekali.[1]
