σ因子

σ因子(sigma factor),原核生物RNA聚合酶上的一个亚基。可以协助聚合酶与模板链上的启动子专一性的识别并结合,极大地提高聚合酶对DNA启动子区的结合力。[1]

特殊的σ因子

原核生物会使用不同的σ因子来适应不同的环境条件。这些特殊的σ因子可结合与环境条件相适应的基因启动子区,增加这些基因的转录来适应环境。

大腸桿菌中,有以下6种σ因子:[1]

σ70 RpoD 持家基因,参与对数生长期和大多数代谢过程基因的调控
σ54 RpoN 参与多数源利用基因的调控
σ38 RpoH 分裂间期特异基因的表达调控
σ32 RpoS 热休克基因的表达调控
σ28 RpoF 鞭毛趋化相关基因的的表达调控
σ24 RpoE 过度热休克基因的表达调控
