NGC 6814是一个距离地球约7500万光年的中间螺旋星系,在天球上位于天鹰座,因此根据NGC 6814与地球距离和该星系在天球上的角直径可得知盘面横跨85000光年。

概要

NGC 6814拥有一个极为明亮的核心,并且被分类为1.5型西佛星系。NGC 6814同时也是一个强度高度变化的X射线来源,并且该星系的紫外线和可见光辐射强度也有变化情形,但变化幅度较平缓,且比X射线晚2日。紫外线和可见光光变周期滞后且变化幅度较平缓的原因被认为是吸积盘内的X射线再生成所导致[2]。NGC 6814的活动星系核形成原因被认为是中心的质量约太阳1800万倍的超大质量黑洞。并且在NGC 6814内可观测到许多沿着尘埃聚集的旋臂分布的电离气体区域[3]
