萨拉斯瓦蒂河

萨拉斯瓦蒂河（梵语：सरस्वती नदी，罗马化：Sárasvatī Nadī），又称娑罗室伐底河，是出现在古代《梨俱吠陀》描述中的一条河流，位于印度西北。据近代学者考证，此河于公元前3000年-公元前2000年之间就已经完全枯竭，现今仅存遗址；可能是印度河支流。
萨拉斯瓦蒂河遗迹
古代的萨拉斯瓦蒂河曾经流动于喜马拉雅山脉到印度西海岸之间，宽八公里，现仅存在痕迹。
萨拉斯瓦蒂河在古印度先祖当中的地位相当重要，她被称为河流七姐妹（都是她的支流）中最伟大者。《梨俱吠陀》里就有三首颂歌专门献给她（梨俱吠陀6.61，7.95和7.96）。萨拉斯瓦蒂河流域被认为是吠陀宗教的起源地，在吠陀时代极受尊敬，相当于后来恒河的地位。该河对于许多的西方学者了解上古印度人的历史中具有重大意义。
