地标

地标（英语：Landmark），指的是一类在某地区具有独特特色的建筑物、结构物或者地形、自然景观，游客或其他一般人可以看图而认出自己所在之处，人造景观种类繁多，例如摩天大楼、塔式建筑、摩天轮、购物中心、会议中心、饭店、娱乐场所、主题公园、体育馆、剧院、学校、博物馆、纪念碑、广场、钟楼、市政厅、教堂、寺庙、清真寺、雕像、车站、机场、发电厂、起重机、石油平台、天线、烟囱、水坝、桥梁等多项公共建设[1]。

词源概要

在古英语中“landmearc”一词来自土地“land”与标记“mearc（mark）”，该词原本用于描述边界标记，即“为标记王国、庄园等边界而设置的物体”。[2]从1560年左右开始，这种对“地标”的理解被更笼统的理解所取代，成为“景观中的显眼物”。

地标的字面意思是探险家和其他人用来寻找返回或穿越某个区域的陆面地理特征（英语：Geographical feature）。[3]例如南非开普敦附近的桌山在大航海时代被用作帮助水手在非洲南端航行的地标。有时还会建造人工结构来帮助水手导航。亚历山大灯塔和罗得岛巨像是为引导船只前往港口而建造的古老建筑。在现代用法中，地标包括任何易于识别的事物，例如纪念碑、建筑物或其他结构。在美式英语中，它是用来指称可能引起游客感兴趣的地点，如显著醒目、具备独特风格的自然景观或历史建物之主要术语。英式英语意义上的地标通常用于指路等休闲导航。

在城市研究和地理学中，地标被进一步定义为有助于在熟悉或不熟悉的环境中确定方向的外部参考点。[4] 地标常用于路人口头询问路线时的指引，如“在大教堂左转，然后右转过桥”之类术语。

自1970至1980年代始，地标的概念在城市规划中被普遍使用。凯文·林奇于其著作‘城市意象’[5]中提到构成都市形象的五大元素是地标（landmarks）、路径（Paths）、节点（Nodes）、边缘（Edges）和区域（Districts），其中地标的存在尤为重要。地标在确定方向时起到简单的指引作用，同时决定一个城市对外的整体形象，作为城市的精神象征，地标有助于人加深对城市的印象。

在汽车导航上的地图和移动电话上的路网图等电子地图中，著名的建筑物被视为“地标”，其形象会作为图例特别标示在地图萤幕上或提供有关详细资讯供查路人浏览。
