Robert B. Laughlin

Robert Betts Laughlin (lahir 1 November 1950) ialah Profesor Fizik dan Fizik Gunaan Anne T. dan Robert M. Bass di Universiti Stanford.[1] Bersama dengan Horst L. Störmer dari Universiti Columbia dan Daniel C. Tsui dari Universiti Princeton, beliau dianugerahkan sebahagian daripada Hadiah Nobel 1998 dalam fizik untuk penjelasan mereka mengenai kesan kuantum pecahan Hall.

Pada tahun 1983, Laughlin mula-mula menyediakan fungsi gelombang badan yang banyak, yang kini dikenali sebagai fungsi gelombang Laughlin, untuk kesan ruang kuantum pecahan, yang dapat menerangkan dengan jelas penjelasan fraksional yang diperhatikan dalam eksperimen. Negeri ini telah ditafsirkan sebagai pemeluwapan Bose-Einstein.[2]
