Mari (марий йылме, marij jəlme) behoort tot die Fins-Oegriese tak van die Oeraalse tale. Dit word hoofsaaklik gepraat in Mari El in Rusland asook in die deel aan die Wjatka-rivier en ooswaarts tot by die Oeralgebergte. Marisprekers kom ook in Tartarstan, Oedmoertië en Perm voor.

Mari het vandag ’n standaardvorm met twee variante, (Heuwel- en Grasland-Mari, of Wes- en Oos-Mari). Dit word met ’n vorm van die Cyrilliese alfabet geskryf en is saam met Russies ’n amptelike taal van Mari El.
