NGC 4490，或称为茧星系（Cocoon Galaxy），是一个在天球上位于猎犬座的棒旋星系，距离地球2500万光年。
概要
[编辑]NGC 4490和较小的半星系NGC 4485有重力交互作用，因此是一个星暴星系。NGC 4490和NGC 4485在特殊星系图集中统称为阿暜269（Arp 269）。NGC 4490在天球上位于恒星常陈四西北方距离3/4°位置，视星等9.8，可使用15x100双筒望远镜观测[2]。NGC 4490在赫歇尔目录中被收录。NGC 4490和伴星系NGC 4485是猎犬II星系群的成员星系[3]。
NGC 4490由威廉·赫歇尔发现于1788年。该星系内已发现超新星SN 1982F和最亮16.1等的SN 2008ax [4]。
