金牛座V830是M型星[6],它的质量大约为1太阳质量,但半径为2太阳半径[6][7]。依据它的年龄,这意味着它还没有完成成为主序星的收缩过程。它的表面温度为4,250 K.[6][7],而太阳的表面温度是5,772 K

金牛座V830是一颗金牛T星,是周围仍有圆盘环绕,在其频谱中有发射谱线的主序前星,使它被归类为有微弱谱线的金牛T星[3]。它在分类上是天龙座BY型变星,具有星点和色球层活动的低温恒星,他们在旋转时会有亮度变化[2]。它的变光周期为2.74日,与转动周期吻合[3]
