金牛座FU的两颗恒星相距5.7″,以金牛座FU的距离,相当于800 AU[7]。主星是一颗棕矮星,质量为0.05 M,而伴星的质量为0.015 M。伴星的质量接近棕矮星和系外行星之间的分界线,15 MJ,因此通常被视为系外行星[8]

性质

联星的两个成员都是低质量天体,仍然收缩朝向主序带演化。与理论进化轨迹进行比较,它们的年龄为一百万年或更少。然而,即使对于这样的年龄,主星也比预期的更明亮,并且可能比伴星年轻[6]。主星的表面有效温度2,838 K,半径为1.8 R,和全波段光度为0.2 L。伴星温度为 2,375 K全波段光度为0.0039 L[6]

变异性

金牛座FU的亮度会改变。主星是一颗金牛T星,分类为不规则主序前星。据观察,它的亮度从16.0的摄影星等到比17.0更暗[9]。它的摄影星等被测量为在15.1星等和17.6星等以下之间变化[10]
