蜀龙属（属名：Shunosaurus）是种独特的蜥脚下目恐龙，生存于侏罗纪晚期（牛津阶）的中国四川省，约1亿5900万年前[1]。
发现与种
在1977年，蜀龙的化石发现于自贡市大山铺镇的下沙溪庙组。模式种是李氏蜀龙（S. lii），是由董枝明、张奕宏、周世武等人在1983年所叙述、命名。蜀龙的属名来自于四川省的古名“蜀”，种名则是以战国时代水利工程师李冰为名[2]。
正模标本（编号IVPP V.9065）是一个部分骨骼。目前已发现超过20个蜀龙骨骸，其中数个是完整或接近完整的骨骸，以及少数保存下来的头颅骨，也包含幼年个体，使蜀龙成为蜥脚下目中生理结构最清楚的恐龙之一，目前化石可组出94%的蜀龙骨骼。
1986年，自贡恐龙博物馆将另一具年代较古老、体型较小的蜀龙化石定名为自流井蜀龙（S. ziliujingensis），以其出土的自流井组地层命名。这个名称后来在1995年，于北京举行的“陆域生态系与生物群”研讨会上亦被提及，但其从未被正式描述，故仍是无资格名称。
叙述
根据原始估计，蜀龙身长约11米。但后来随着更多、更完整的化石被发现，蜀龙的身长估计值越来越小。2010年，美国古生物学家葛瑞格利·保罗（Gregory S. Paul）估计蜀龙的身长约9.5米，体重约3公吨[3]。
以一个蜥脚类恐龙而言，蜀龙的颈部相当短，仅超过短颈潘龙[3]。已发现的大部分头颅骨，多遭到挤压变形、关节脱落，因此头部形状从宽广、短而纵深[3]，到狭窄、呈尖状[4]。蜀龙的鼻孔位在口鼻部偏低的地方。牙齿相当结实，长8公分，牙齿呈圆柱状，齿冠呈匙状。蜀龙有12节颈椎、13节背椎、4节荐椎、43节尾椎，有些尾椎的形状为人字形，类似较晚期的梁龙。肩胛骨与鸟喙骨愈合[5]。
在1989年，董枝明发现蜀龙的尾巴末端拥有尾槌[6]，尾槌有两个5公分长的尖刺，可能用来击退敌人。

分类
蜀龙被分类为一种基础蜥脚下目恐龙。在董枝明的命名研究里，蜀龙被归类为鲸龙科。在1992年，董枝明将蜀龙改归类于鲸龙科的蜀龙亚科（Shunosaurinae）[7]
近年亲缘分支分类法提出许多不同分类法。在1995年，保罗·厄彻（Paul Upchurch）提出蜀龙属于盘足龙科，如同侏罗纪的其他中国蜥脚类恐龙[8]。在2002年，Jeffrey Wilson提出蜀龙是盘足龙科的非常原始物种[9]。蜀龙可能与澳洲昆士兰州的瑞拖斯龙有接近亲缘关系。
古生物学
蜀龙的短颈部，显示牠们以低矮植被为食。牠们的口鼻部形状，已适应以大量粗糙植物为食[10]。
四川省自贡市大山铺地区的90%化石属于蜀龙，显示牠们是该地的优势草食性动物。蜀龙与其他恐龙生存于同一块中侏罗纪陆地上，例如：蜥脚类的酋龙、峨嵋龙、原颌龙、可能属于鸟脚下目的晓龙、早期剑龙类的华阳龙、以及肉食性的气龙。
大众文化
蜀龙目前正在中国四川省自贡市的恐龙博物馆和北京自然博物馆展示中。而蜀龙也出现在由探索频道制作的纪录片《恐龙王朝》中，一只蜀龙食用有毒的真菌导致意识不清，在摔下山崖时压死一只想以其为食的中华盗龙。
