泰坦巨龙（属名：Titanosaurus）又名巨龙、泰坦龙或伟龙，属名意为“泰坦的蜥蜴”，是以希腊神话中的早期神祇泰坦巨神为名。泰坦巨龙是种蜥脚下目恐龙，化石是在1877年发现于印度的拉米塔组，地质年代为白垩纪的马斯特里赫特阶，并于同年命名[1]。
泰坦巨龙被推测身长为9到12米不等，重量约13公吨。传统上，泰坦巨龙属是个垃圾箱类群，许多保存不佳、但拥有独特的脊椎生理结构的蜥脚类化石被分类到泰坦巨龙属。最初发现的泰坦巨龙化石由四肢骨头与少数脊椎骨所构成，而脊椎拥有独特的特征。然而，有更多保存良好的泰坦巨龙类标本被发现，这些标本显示泰坦巨龙属的独特特征可在许多属上见到。因为最初的泰坦巨龙标本已无法与其他近亲分辨出来[2]，所以泰坦巨龙属目前的状态为疑名。
分类学
在南欧与南美洲等地也发现了泰坦巨龙的其他种。但目前大部分种被归类于其他属，或是被认为无效种、疑名。泰坦巨龙属中最著名的种原本是柯氏泰坦巨龙（T. colberti），现已重新命名为伊希斯龙[3]。理查德·莱德克（Richard Lydekker）在1879年命名的布氏泰坦巨龙（T. blanfordi），化石过于破碎，无法与其他化石做出比较、鉴定，目前被认为是疑名[2]。
另外，2022年6月印度德里大学的古生物学研究员在距离中央邦巴格（Bagh）城不远的帕德利亚（Padlya）村发现了52个恐龙蛋的蛋巢，均为本属物种的蛋巢；而在其中一个有11颗恐龙蛋的巢内，有一颗恐龙蛋化石是的蛋中卵的化石，即在恐龙蛋化石的蛋壳里面还嵌套著另一颗蛋[4]。这个“稀有而且很重要”的发现说明了泰坦巨龙属的生殖系统类似鸟类，而不像以前认为的那样类似乌龟或其他爬行动物[4]。
