白尾鹲（学名：Phaethon lepturus）为鹲科热带鸟属的鸟类，俗名白尾热带鸟、长尾热带鸟。是一种 热带鸟。它是热带海洋中三种密切相关的海鸟中最小的一种，也是鹲形目(Phaethontiformes)中最小的成员。
它分布于大西洋、西部 太平洋 和 印度洋的热带和亚热带地区。它也在一些 加勒比海 岛屿上繁殖，最近有几对在小多巴哥岛 开始筑巢，加入了红嘴热带鸟群体。除了热带大西洋外，它还在北至 百慕大 地区筑巢，当地称其为 "longtail"。[3]该物种的模式产地在印度洋毛里求斯。[2]

描述
[编辑]成年的白尾鹲是一种苗条的主要白色鸟类，长度为 71–80 厘米，包括非常长的中央尾羽，这使其总长度加倍。其翼展为 89–96 厘米。鸟类有一条内翼的黑色带、一个黑色眼罩和一个橙黄色至橙红色的喙。[10] 喙的颜色、纯白的背部和黑色翼带使这个物种与红嘴热带鸟区分开来。
白尾鹲在热带岛屿上繁殖，直接将单个蛋产在地面或悬崖边缘。非繁殖期时，它广泛分布于海洋，有时会游荡得很远。它捕食鱼类和鱿鱼，通过表面扑击捕捉，但这个物种游泳能力较差。其叫声是一种高音尖叫keee-keee-krrrt-krrt-krrt。雌雄鸟相似，但雄性平均尾羽较长，幼鸟没有尾羽，有绿黄色喙，背部有细条纹。白尾鹲没有固定的繁殖周期；相反，繁殖频率取决于气候和适合繁殖地点的可用性。该鸟类可以在上次成功繁殖后 10 个月繁殖，或在上次失败后 5 个月繁殖。
行为

白尾鹲主要以 飞鱼、鱿鱼 和 螃蟹 为食。[11] 它像塘鹅一样从高达 20 米的高度俯冲捕捉猎物。然而，飞鱼可在飞行中被捕捉到。它通常成对进食。猎物经常在其表面上方盘旋时被发现，并在起飞前吞下猎物。[12]
保育状况
[编辑]数量趋势未知。在墨西哥，它未被列入任何保护类别，也没有针对这些热带鸟的具体保育计划。然而，这个物种在各种保护计划中被列为美洲水鸟。建议对该物种进行海上生物学研究以及繁殖群体的监测。在全球范围内，它被认为是无危物种。[13]
民间传说
[编辑]古代 查莫罗人 称白尾鹲为 utak 或 itak，并相信当它在房屋上空尖叫时，意味着有人即将死去或未婚女孩怀孕。其叫声会杀死任何不相信它的人。查莫罗渔民会通过观察它们来找到鱼群。[14]
