“兵”、“卒”是中国象棋的棋子，每方各有五枚。红方为“兵”，黑方为“卒”。兵、卒在过河前每一回合只可以往前行走一步，过河后，可以向左、向右或往前行进一步，但是永远不能往后方移动。
兵与卒字义皆为小兵，表达最低阶军种，然而兵卒地位会随着战局发展、棋子减少、强子多半被兑掉时逐步提升，某些状况下过河兵卒可抵一马或一炮，甚至一车。

过河前，兵（卒）只能往前行进一步，不能横走或后退。
兵（卒）的走法（二）
过河后，兵（卒）可以向前、左或右方向移动一步，但是仍然不能往后方向移动。
