ഏറ്റവും ഭാരം കുറഞ്ഞ സസ്തനിയാണ് കുഞ്ഞൻ നച്ചെലി (Suncus etruscus). Etruscan shrew, Etruscan pygmy shrew, white-toothed pygmy shrew എന്നെല്ലാം പേരുകളുള്ള ഇതിന് ശരാശരി ഏതാണ്ട് 1.8 grams (0.063 oz) ഭാരമേ ഉള്ളൂ.[3][4][5][6][7] (എന്നാൽ തലയോട്ടിയുടെ വലിപ്പം കൊണ്ടും ശരീരത്തിന്റെ നീളം കൊണ്ടും ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ സസ്തനി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നത് ബംബിൾബീ വവ്വാലാണ്.[3][8])
