വേൾഡ് വൈഡ് വെബിനേയും ഇന്റർനെറ്റിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു വിവരങ്ങളും ശേഖരിച്ച് സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഡിജിറ്റൽ ശേഖരണിയാണ് വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീൻ (Wayback Machine). സാൻ ഫ്രാൻസിസ്കോ ആസ്ഥാനമാക്കി ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാതെ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഒരു സംഘടനയായ ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് ആർകൈവ് ആണ് വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീൻ എന്ന ഡിജിറ്റൽ ശേഖരണിക്ക് രൂപം നൽകിയത്. 2001 ൽ ആണ് വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീൻ രൂപീകൃതമായത്.[4][5]കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ എൻജീയർമാരായ ബ്രെവ്സ്റ്റർ കാലെയും ബ്രൂസ് ഗില്ലറ്റും ചേർന്നാണ് ഇത് സജ്ജീകരിച്ചത്. ഈ സേവനം വഴി ഉപയോക്താക്കൾക്ക് ശേഖരിച്ച അതേ പതിപ്പിൽ നാൾവഴി അനുസരിച്ച് വെബ് താളുകൾ കാണാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നു. നാൾവഴി അനുസരിച്ച് വെബ് താളുകളുടെ പതിപ്പുകൾ ഉപയോക്താക്കളിൽ എത്തിക്കുന്ന വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീന് ഈ പേരുനൽകിയത് The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show എന്ന കാർട്ടൂൺ പരമ്പരയിലെ ഒരു സാങ്കൽപിക സമയ യന്ത്രമായ WABAC മെഷീൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വേ മെഷീൻ എന്നതിൽ നിന്നാണ്.[6][7]

[തിരുത്തുക]1996 ൽ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ എൻജീയർമാരായ ബ്രെവ്സ്റ്റർ കാലെയും ബ്രൂസ് ഗില്ലറ്റും ചേർന്ന് ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് സൂചികകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാനും പൊതുവായി പ്രവേശിക്കാവുന്ന വേൾഡ് വൈഡ് വെബ് പേജുകൾ ശേഖരിക്കാനും വേണ്ടി ഒരു സോഫ്‌റ്റ്‌വെയർ നിർമിച്ചു.[8]
സംഭരണ ശേഷി
[തിരുത്തുക]2009 ആയപ്പോഴേക്കും ഇതിൽ 15 പെറ്റാബൈറ്റുകളോളം ശേഖരങ്ങളുണ്ടായി. ആ സമയത്ത് മാസത്തിൽ 100 ടെറാബൈറ്റ് എന്ന തോതിൽ വർദ്ധനവുണ്ടായി. [9] 2003 ൽ 12 ടെറാബൈറ്റ് എന്ന തോതിലായിരുന്നു വർദ്ധനവ്. കാപ്രിക്കോൺ ടെക്നോളജീസ് നിർമിച്ച 1.4 PetaBytes/ rack ശേഷിയുള്ള പെറ്റാബോക്സിലാണ് വിവരങ്ങൾ ശേഖരിച്ച് സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്.[10] 2009 ൽ വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീന്റെ ശേഖരം സൺമൈക്രോസിസ്റ്റംസ് നിർമിച്ച ഓപ്പൺസോഴ്സ് കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ഡാറ്റ സംഭരണിയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി.[11]

[തിരുത്തുക]2013 ഒക്ടോബറിൽ വെയ്ബാക്ക് മെഷീൻ വെബ്സൈറ്റിന്റെ ആഗോള അലെക്സ റാങ്ക് 162 ആയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ 2015 മാർച്ച് ആയപ്പോഴേക്കും 208 ആയി മാറി. [12] [13]
