Hassium[1] [2] (-ii, n.) elementum chemicum in systemate periodico est cuius symbolus Hs et numerus atomicus 108. Elementum syntheticum est cuius isotopium stabilissimum Hs-265, cui hemiperiodum duarum millisecundarum est. Metallum transitionis est.

Primum synthetizatum est anno 1984 ab indagatoribus Germanis sub Petro Armbruster et Godefrido Münzenberg apud Societatem pro Baryiontologia, Darmstadii. Nomen Hassii ab eis propositum est secundum Hassiam in qua regione societas sita est.

Controversia de nomine elementi inter 101 et 109 fuit; propterea IUPAC nomen unniloctium (symbolus Uno) adoptavit ut nomen temporarium pro hoc elemento. In 1994 IUPAC nomen hahnium pro elemento 108 commendavit. Nomen hassium autem internationaliter adoptatum est in 1997.
