Niflheim
Niflheim (tamén escrito 'Niflheimr' ou 'Nifelheim', «Fogar da néboa»), na mitoloxía nórdica, é o reino da escuridade e das tebras, envolto por unha néboa perpetua.[1] Nel habita o dragón Níðhöggr, que roe sen cesar as raíces do freixo Yggdrasil. Despois do Ragnarök, o dragón adicarase a atormentar as almas que queden no mundo.
Nun dos mitos cosmogónicos, Niflheim é a materia fría, o oposto ó Muspelheim ou materia quente. O mundo naceu do choque destas dúas materias no espazo máxico, chamado Ginnungagap.
Unha das partes máis escuras do enorme e xélido Niflheim é Helheim, onde reina a deusa ou xigante Hela, co seu can Garm.
