Características e localización

É chamado mar por tradición histórica e mais tamén lago Tiberiades, localizado entre Israel e Siria, con aproximadamente 53 km de circunferencia, 21 de longo e 13 de largo, cobre unha superficie de 166 km² e ten unha profundidade máxima de 43 metros. Está situado a 212 m baixo o nivel do mar, o que o converte no lago de auga doce máis baixo do mundo, a súa orixe é tectónica e está asociado ó Gran Val do Rift.
