O ácido pentadecanoico ou ácido pentadecílico é un ácido graxo saturado con 15 átomos de carbono. A súa fórmula molecular é CH3(CH2)13COOH, e simbolízase como C15:0. É raro na natureza, e supón o 1,2% das graxas do leite de vaca.[1] A graxa do leite de vaca é a súa principal fonte dietaria[2] e utilízase como marcador do consumo de graxas do leite.[3] O ácido pentadecanoico tmén parece en graxa de cordeiro hidroxenada.[4] Tamén supón o 3,61% das graxas do froito do durián (Durio graveolens).[5] Ademais de aparecer en pequenas cantidades en produtos lácteos, aparece nun 0,43 % das graxas da carne dos ruminantes.[6] Identificouse no café, tanto verde coma torrado, en concentracións de 0,38 ppm e 2,7 ppm, respectivamente.[7]

Nun estudo feito en Tanzania o contido nos ácidos pentanoico e láurico no leite materno estaba correlacionado cun incremento de transmisión do VIH por lactación materna, mentres que o contido en ácidos n-6 poliinsaturados estaba correlacionado cunha diminución da transmisión por esa vía.[8]
