Grof Maurice Polydore Marie Bernard Maeterlinck (Gent, 29. august 1862. - Nica, 6. maj 1949.), bio je belgijski dramatičar, pjesnik i esejista.

Dobitnik je Nobelove nagrade za književnost 1911. "u znak zahvalnosti za svoje mnogostrane književne aktivnosti, a posebno za njegova dramska djela, koja se odlikuju bogatstvom mašte i poetskom maštom, koja otkriva, ponekad u maski bajka, duboka inspiracija, a na misteriozan način se obraćaju sopstvenim osećanjima čitalaca i podstiču njihovu maštu."

Glavne teme u njegovom radu su smrt i smisao života. Bio je vodeći član grupe La Jeune Belgique[1] i njegove drame čine važan dio simbolističkog pokreta. U kasnijem životu, Maeterlinck se suočio s vjerodostojnim optužbama za plagijat.
