Bagnoldov broj

Bagnoldov broj,[1] nazvan po Ralphu Algeru Bagnoldu,[2] korišten kod cirkulacije sa granularnim tokom, je bezdimenzionalna veličina definisana kao:

gdje je masa, prečnik granule, površinski napon, te je viskoznost fluida.

Bagnold je izvodio eksperimente sa kuglicama od voska prečnika 1 mm potoljenim u mješavinu glicerina, vode i alkohola were sheared in a coaxial cylinder rheometer. Reometar je pamentno dizajniran, tako da je mogao mjeriti i smicajne i normalne sile koje dijeluju na zidove. Identifikovao je dva različita strujna režima: makroviskozni i inercijalni (od granule). Ovi režimi se mogu razlikovati koriteći veličinu koja se naziva Bagnoldov broj.
