বিষ্ণু (সংস্কৃত: विष्णु) হিন্দু বৈষ্ণব সম্প্ৰদায়ৰ সৰ্বোচ্চ দেৱতা। আদি শংকৰ প্ৰমুখ্যে বিদগদ্ধ পণ্ডিতসকলৰ মতে, বিষ্ণু ঈশ্বৰৰ এটা প্ৰধান ৰূপ।[1] আৰু তৈত্তিৰীয় শাখা আৰু ভগবদ গীতা আদি শ্ৰুতিশাস্ত্ৰবোৰত তেওঁক সৰ্বোচ্চ ঈশ্বৰৰ মৰ্য্যদা দিয়া হৈছে।[2][3]
বিষ্ণু সহস্ৰনামত[4] বিষ্ণুক পৰমাত্মা আৰু পৰমেশ্বৰ বুলি ঘোষণা কৰা হৈছে। এই গ্ৰন্থত তেওঁক সৰ্ব জীৱ আৰু সৰ্ববস্তুত ব্যাপি থকা সত্তা; অতীত, বৰ্তমান আৰু ভৱিষ্যত তথা অনাদি অনন্ত সময়ৰ প্ৰভু; সকলো অস্তিত্বৰ স্ৰষ্টা আৰু ধ্বংসকাৰী; বিশ্বচৰাচৰৰ ধাৰক, পোষক আৰু শাসক আৰু বিশ্বৰ সকল বস্তুৰ উৎসপুৰুষ হিচাপে বৰ্ণনা কৰা হৈছে।
পুৰাণৰ বিৱৰণ অনুসাৰে বিষ্ণুৰ গাৰ বৰণ ঘনমেঘৰ ন্যায় নীল (ঘনশ্যাম); তিনি চতুৰ্ভুজ আৰু শঙ্খ-চক্ৰ-গদা-পদ্মধাৰী। ভগবদ গীতা গ্ৰন্থত বিষ্ণুৰ বিশ্বৰূপেৰেও বৰ্ণনা দিয়া হৈছে। লোকবিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী, এই ৰূপৰ ধাৰণা বা কল্পনাৰ শক্তি সাধাৰণ মানুহৰ নাই।[5]
পুৰাণত বিষ্ণুৰ দশাৱতাৰৰো বৰ্ণনা আছে। বিষ্ণুৰ এই দহ (১০)টা প্ৰধান অৱতাৰৰ মাজত ন জনৰ জন্ম অতীত হৈছে আৰু এজনৰ জন্ম ভৱিষ্যতে কলিযুগৰ শেষলগ্নত হ’ব বুলি হিন্দুসকলে বিশ্বাস কৰে। বিষ্ণু সহস্ৰনামত সৃষ্টিকৰ্তা ব্ৰহ্মাৰ উক্তিত বিষ্ণুকেই "সহস্ৰকোটি যুগ ধাৰী" বুলি উল্লেখ কৰা হৈছে। ইয়াৰ অৰ্থ, বিষ্ণুৰ অৱতাৰবোৰ সকলো যুগতেই জন্মগ্ৰহণ কৰি থাকে। ভগবদ গীতা অনুসৰি, ধৰ্মৰ পালন[6] আৰু দুষ্টৰ দমন আৰু সন্তসকলক উদ্ধাৰ কৰিবৰ বাবে বিষ্ণুয়ে বিভিন্ন অৱতাৰ গ্ৰহণ কৰে। হিন্দুসকলৰ প্ৰায় সকলো শাখাসম্প্ৰদায়ত, বিষ্ণুক ৰাম, কৃষ্ণ আদি ঘাই ৰূপত পূজা কৰা হয়।[7]
হিন্দু ধৰ্মৰ ত্ৰিমূৰ্তি[8][9] ধাৰণাত ব্ৰহ্মাক বিশ্বব্ৰহ্মাণ্ড সৃষ্টিকাৰী, বিষ্ণুকে স্থিতিৰ প্ৰতীক আৰু শিৱক ধ্বংসৰ প্ৰতীক ৰূপে কল্পনা কৰা হৈছে।[10][11] ভাগবত পুৰাণ অনুসৰি, ত্ৰিমূৰ্তিৰ এই তিনি দেৱতাৰ মাজত বিষ্ণুৰ পূজাই সবাতোকৈ বেছি ফলদায়ক।[12]
