  • 文化部長鄭麗君同日表示，為讓臺灣鐵道文化資產歷史完整，近期向泰國回購當年台鐵外銷出口的「台鐵守車（編號BV.15092）」，在歷經貨櫃輪載運，於同日凌晨運抵基隆港，其後續將轉運原製造地台北機廠整理保存。[2][3][4][5][6]
  • 衛生福利部同日發布修正版的「食品及其相關產品追溯追蹤系統管理辦法」，主要修正內容為貨品流向資訊裡，新增「回收、銷貨退回、不良」及「庫存、報廢」等條文資訊。[7]

2018年10月21日，樹林開往台東6432車次，編組樹林端TEMU2007-TEMU2008台東端，於下午四時五十分左右行經宜蘭線新馬站彎道出軌，8節車廂全數出軌，其中第3、5、7、8節車廂翻覆，共造成18人死亡、193人輕重傷，其原因仍待調查，事故編組TEMU2007+2008因受損嚴重已決定將在調查完畢後報廢除籍，成為第一組因事故而整組報廢的傾斜式列車。[17]
