布拉灰语（布拉灰語：براہوئی）是一种达罗毗荼语，其主要使用者为巴基斯坦俾路支省中部、阿富汗局部地区的布拉灰人[5]，以及卡塔尔、阿联酋、伊拉克、伊朗的布拉灰人外籍群体。[6]该语言距离最近的同为达罗毗荼语系的语言团体相距1500公里。[3]此外，喀拉特县、马斯吞胡兹达尔县以及奎达县部分地区也有人使用布拉灰语。
历史
布拉灰语究竟是晚近迁来俾路支斯坦的语言还是古代广泛分布的达罗毗荼语的孑遗，仍存在争论。据约瑟夫·埃尔芬宾（Josef Elfenbein）（1989），目前最广为接受的理论是，布拉灰人是在公元前3千纪侵入印度西北部的原始达罗毗荼人的后裔，不同于后来南迁的其他达罗毗荼人，他们自公元前2000年之前就一直留在Sarawan和Jahlawan了。[7]支持“晚近迁来说”的学者则假设布拉灰人在公元1000年之后从印度中部迁来俾路支斯坦，但这与基因人类学分析矛盾，它显示布拉灰人和周围的俾路支语使用者的基因组相似，却和中部达罗毗荼语使用者存在着较大差异。[8]:267–278对布拉灰语影响最大的俾路支语是一种西北伊朗下语支语言，晚至公元1000年左右才迁来这片地区。[9]:1[10]有位学者认为这次迁徙晚至13或14世纪。[11]:129–130
Southworth （2012）认为布拉灰语不属于达罗毗荼语系，而是与达罗毗荼语系、埃兰语平行地组成“扎格罗斯语系”，源地是西南亚（伊朗南部），在印欧人移民到来之前就已经广泛分布于南亚和西亚东部。[12]:142–148
方言
没有显著的方言差异。Jhalawani （分布在胡兹达尔；也称南部方言）和Sarawani（分布在喀拉特；也称北部方言）的区别在于北部方言有*h（Elfenbein 1997）。 布拉灰语受周边伊朗语支语言，如波斯语、俾路支语和普什图语影响。[13]
音系
布拉灰语元音有长元音/aː eː iː oː uː/、双元音/aɪ aʊ/和短元音/a u i/。
布拉灰语辅音有卷舌化，但缺乏周边语言都有的送气音，有些区域内独特的擦音，如清齿龈边擦音[ɬ]。[14]:274 布拉灰语辅音与俾路支语很像，但布拉灰语有更多擦音和鼻音（Elfenbein 1993）。

重音
布拉灰语重音展现基于音量的模式，只出现在第一个长元音或双元音，和全短元音词汇的第一个音节上。
文字
阿拉伯文
布拉灰语是唯一一种没有婆罗米系文字正字法的达罗毗荼语系语言。阿拉伯文正字法诞生于20世纪后半叶。[15] 在伊朗、阿富汗和巴基斯坦，书写时一般使用波斯体。
拉丁文
更晚的时候，基于拉丁字母的Brolikva（Brahui Roman Likvar的缩写）由奎达的俾路支斯坦大学布拉灰语委员会创制，由报纸Talár使用并推广。布拉灰維基百科採用布拉灰語拉丁字母。下面是最新版的Bráhuí Báşágal Brolikva正字法；使用35個拉丁字母及擴展拉丁字母：[16]
