NGC 1427A是天炉座的一个棒型不规则星系。天文学家以球状星团光度方程式计算出该星系的距离模数31.01 ± 0.21，即距离地球约5200万光年[2]。NGC 1427A是天炉座星系团的成员星系中亮度最高的矮不规则星系，并且是该星系团中心的星系NGC 1399的前景星系[2]。
