3000米赛跑是一个田径竞赛项目，属于中长跑的一种。三千米跑于70年代兴起，为女子项目。1975年5月，国际田径总会会议为女子创立了三千米世界纪录。1983年第一届世界田径锦标赛设立了三千米，1984年洛杉矶奥运会第一次举办了三千米跑，罗马尼亚玛利西卡(Puica, Maricica)建立8分35秒96的奥运会纪录。
