2月1日：京都电气铁道通车，成为日本第一个电车系统[1]。

6月17日：大都会西侧高架铁路加菲尔德公园支线通车，来往马什菲尔德大道交汇及西西罗（第48）大道。1958年此线由现时芝加哥地铁蓝线高速沿艾森豪威尔高速公路的国会支线。- 6月28日：纽黑文及哈特福德铁路成为美国第一条以电力推动的国铁列车[4]。
