黑啄木鸟（学名：Dryocopus martius）是一种大型的啄木鸟，体长40－46厘米，翼展可达67－73厘米。
生长于古北界北部的茂密森林内，也是这属物种中唯一出没于这区域的鸟种。这鸟分布范围广泛，在欧亚大陆上不同地区也可发现其踪影。此鸟不会进行迁徙。
外观描述
[编辑]除了喙部为红色外，黑啄木鸟全身体羽均为黑色，因此十分容易于小嘴乌鸦相混淆。此外，雄鸟的整个头部亦为红色，而雌性则只有后头有红色，这些分别即使在幼鸟身上也显而易见。直线飞行，与其他啄木鸟浮降式飞行法有所分别。每次能诞下4只或以上的鸟蛋。
