死灵之书
《死灵之书》（Necronomicon）是在霍华德·菲利普斯·洛夫克拉夫特的小说中出现的一本虚构的魔法书，它也曾出现在奥古斯特·德雷斯和克拉克·阿什顿·史密斯的作品里。1922年，它第一次出现在洛夫克拉夫特的短篇小说《猎犬》（1924年出版）中[1]，而其作者阿卜杜·阿尔哈兹莱德则早在1921年写就的《无名之城》中登场。书中记载着古神的历史及召唤祂们的方法。
虚构的历史
[编辑]根据洛夫克拉夫特的描述，《死灵之书》由阿拉伯诗人阿卜杜·阿尔哈兹莱德用阿拉伯文写成。950年，《死灵之书》被译为希腊文，后遭到牧首米海尔一世所禁及烧毁。1228年，由欧劳司·渥米尔斯翻译为拉丁文，四年之后亦遭教宗格列高列九世所禁；此译本在15世纪于德国出版，17世纪被译为西班牙文出版，16世纪在意大利出版了希腊文版本。17世纪的英国魔法师约翰·迪伊曾将《死灵之书》译为英文，但从未出版过[2]:58。
洛夫克拉夫特在《死灵之书史》中述及：《死灵之书》的副本分别收藏于哈佛大学怀德纳图书馆、米斯卡塔尼克大学、法国国家图书馆、布宜诺斯艾利斯大学和大英博物馆[2]。
名称
[编辑]洛夫克拉夫特说“Necronomicon”这个词是他在梦中想到的[3]。它转写自希腊语，“nekros”（νεκρός）的意思是死者，“nomos”（νόμος）的意思是法律，“eikon”（εἰκών）的意思是形象[4]。
1927年，洛夫克拉夫特写下了一段《死灵之书》的简史，即1938年出版的《死灵之书史》（History of the Necronomicon）。他说这本书原名为“Al Azif”。这是一个阿拉伯语词，按洛夫克拉夫特的说法，其意为“夜间听起来像是恶魔咆哮的虫鸣”因此也有《魔声之书》的别名。他的灵感来自于塞缪尔·亨利（Samuel Henley）翻译的法语哥特小说《瓦泰克》（Vathek）[5]。原书中，“虫”指的是别西卜[6]。
