总无机碳CTTIC),又名溶解无机碳DIC)是溶液无机的总和量,当中包括二氧化碳碳酸碳酸氢盐离子碳酸根[1]。通常二氧化碳及碳酸将同列于CO2*一栏下。总无机碳量用于测量自然水体的PH值等数据[2]

CT = [CO2*] + [HCO3] + [CO32−]

其中:

  • CT为总无机碳量
  • [CO2*]为二氧化碳及碳酸之总和([CO2*] = [CO2] + [H2CO3])
  • [HCO3]为碳酸氢盐
  • [CO32−]为碳酸根

上述物质按以下公式作化学平衡

CO2 + H2O ⇌ H2CO3 ⇌ H+ + HCO3 ⇌ 2H+ + CO32−

溶液的PH值将影响总无机碳于化学平衡中的比例。

通常而言,实验时会将溶液酸化,从而推动化学平衡产生CO2,继而以红外光谱测量其含量。
