奥斯卡最佳纪录片奖（英语：Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature）是奥斯卡金像奖的其中一个奖项，每年由美国电影艺术与科学学会颁发给该年度最杰出的纪录片。在1941年第14届颁奖典礼上，英国情报部制作的纪录片《今晚的目标》获颁奥斯卡荣誉奖；隔年（第15届奥斯卡金像奖）便首度设立最佳纪录片专奖，并授与四部影片并列最佳纪录片，创下奥斯卡的纪录。此后便维持每届仅颁发一部最佳纪录长片的传统（除1946年未设立该奖项、1986年第59届有两部纪录片并列获奖）。

曾入围或提名其他奖项的纪录片
[编辑]虽然奥斯卡官方规则并未限定纪录片不得参与其他奖项[2]，但由于纪录片属非虚构的特性使其无法入围演技奖、服装设计奖、艺术指导奖等奖项，到目前为止也尚未有纪录片入围最佳影片奖或最佳导演奖。唯一一部曾入围最佳原创剧本奖的纪录片是1950年《沉默的人》（亦入围最佳纪录片）。
早在纪录片正式成为奥斯卡专奖之前，纪录片《南极探险》就曾在1930年第3届奥斯卡上获颁最佳摄影奖，也是第一部入围及获颁奥斯卡奖的纪录片[3]。而《伍兹塔克》(1971)不仅曾获颁最佳纪录片，也是第一部入围最佳影片剪辑奖和最佳音效奖的纪录片[4]。1994年的纪录片《篮球梦》也曾入围最佳影片剪辑，但却未入围当年的最佳纪录片[5]。
2019年入围最佳纪录片的《大地蜜语》则是第一部入围最佳外语片奖的纪录片（出品国为北马其顿）[6]，而隔年由罗马尼亚出品的《集体》也再次入围了最佳纪录片和最佳外语片[7]。2008年由以色列出品的《和巴什尔跳华尔兹》是第一部以动画方式呈现的纪录片，也曾入围当年度最佳外语片，但并未入围最佳纪录片[8]。2021年由丹麦出品的《漂浪人生》则是第一部入围最佳纪录片、最佳动画片和最佳国际影片（旧称外语片）的电影。
至今有八部纪录片曾入围最佳原创歌曲奖：

- 《格伦·坎贝尔：我还是我》(2014)—“I'm Not Gonna Miss You”• 词曲：格伦·坎贝尔 和 朱利安·雷蒙
- 《竞速灭绝》(2015)—“Manta Ray” • 词曲：J·雷夫 和 安诺尼
- 《狩猎场》(2015)—“Til It Happens to You” • 词曲：女神卡卡与戴安娜·沃伦
- 《吉姆：詹姆斯·弗利传》(2016)—“The Empty Chair” • 词曲：J·雷夫 和 史汀
- 《RBG：不恐龙大法官》(2018)—“I'll Fight”• 词曲：戴安娜·沃伦
另外，有五位曾参与纪录片制作的电影工作工作者曾获颁奥斯卡荣誉奖：彼得·施密特、威廉·亨德里克斯、D.A.潘尼贝克、弗雷德里克·怀斯曼和安妮·华达[9]。
