天文现象
天文事件是涉及一个或多个天体的天文现象。天文事件的一些例子有：月球周期性的月相变化、日食和月食、凌日和掩星、行星的冲和合、流星雨、彗星的飞越、分点和至点等等[2]。

严格来说，太空站凌日或凌月，铱闪光等人造卫星的现象等，虽然不是天文现象，但由于可根据其轨道计算出可见地区和时刻，近年来也成为天文爱好者观测的对象之一。
须要注意的是，晕、彩虹等这些由大气或相关大气衍生的现象，不算是天文现象；在1999年以来，每年皆有民众甚至传媒把黄昏（日落前后不久）在西方暮光中看到的明亮的飞机尾迹误当作为异常明亮的彗星。
