冥界 (马雅神话)
冥界（音译“席巴巴”、“希巴巴”，Xibalba），大致上可译为“恐怖的场所”[1]，是马雅神话中的死后世界，由死神及其从者统治。16世纪在维拉帕兹，冥界的入口在传统上被认为是在科班付近的洞窟。此外，据说伯利兹付近的洞窟也是冥界的入口[2]。在马雅的部分地区，银河被视为通往冥界的道路[3]。
概要
根据马雅圣书‘波波乌’，冥界是地底的宫廷，由12柱神统治。死神中首要的是胡卡姆（Hun-Came）和武古卡姆（Vucub-Came）[4][5]。
其他10王被视为恶鬼，分掌各种人类的苦难，也就是疾病・饥饿・恐怖・贫困・痛苦、最后是死亡[1]。10王以2人1组活动。
没落
冥界后来因为双子神胡纳普（Hunahpu）和伊修巴兰奎（Ixbalanque）而没落。双子英雄神打败冥界之王，冥界因此而没落，之后死神及其从者的状态不明，但是仍永远存在冥府的暗处。
