[编辑]伯沙撒的父王那波尼德在大约前549年离开首都巴比伦城，前往阿拉伯沙漠的绿洲泰马，专注于崇拜月神南纳。那波尼德任命伯沙撒为共同摄政。
前540年，那波尼德为了防御波斯人入侵，从泰马返回巴比伦。在前539年，伯沙撒留在首都防守，波斯阿契美尼德王朝的居鲁士二世在同年征服了巴比伦，伯沙撒被杀，那波尼德被俘（一说投降）。[1]
圣经中的伯沙撒
[编辑]旧约圣经但以理书第5章记载了关于伯沙撒的一些事情，提到伯沙撒的父亲(或译：先祖) 为尼布甲尼撒二世。
