ภาษาไอริช^[4] หรือ ภาษาไอร์แลนด์^[5] บางครั้งเรียกว่าภาษาเกลิก (อังกฤษ: Gaelic, ไอริช: Gaeilge) เป็นภาษากอยเดลภาษาหนึ่งที่จัดอยู่ในตระกูลภาษาอินโด-ยูโรเปียน มีรากฐานจากประเทศไอร์แลนด์ ซึ่งในอดีตมีการพูดโดยคนเชื้อสายไอริช แต่ปัจจุบันประชากรไอริชมักพูดภาษาอังกฤษ ทำให้มีจำนวนประชากรที่พูดภาษาไอริชเป็นภาษาแม่อยู่เป็นจำนวนน้อยเท่านั้น โดยการสำรวจในปี ค.ศ. 2016 พบว่ามีผู้ที่พูดภาษาไอริชเป็นภาษาแม่อยู่ในไอร์แลนด์เพียง 73,800 คน หรือ ไม่ถึงร้อยละ 2 ของจำนวนประชากร ในขณะที่คนไอริชส่วนใหญ่จะเรียนภาษาไอริชเป็นภาษาที่สอง อย่างไรก็ดีไอริชมีฐานะเป็นภาษาทางการในประเทศไอร์แลนด์ กำหนดโดยรัฐธรรมนูญของไอร์แลนด์ นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นภาษาที่ใช้อย่างเป็นทางการของสหภาพยุโรป และ ในไอร์แลนด์เหนือของสหราชอาณาจักรอีกด้วย

ภาษาเขียนของไอริชถูกพบเป็นครั้งแรกในจารึกอักษรโอคัมซึ่งถูกจารึกไว้ราวศตวรรษที่ 4 โดยเป็นภาษาไอริชสมัยแรกเริ่ม (primitive Irish) ภาษาไอริชแรกเริ่มพัฒนากลายมาเป็นภาษาไอริชเก่า (Old Irish) ในระหว่างศตวรรษที่ 5 พอถึงศตวรรษที่ 6 ภาษาไอริชเก่าก็เริ่มใช้ตัวอักษรลาตินแล้ว และเริ่มปรากฏอยู่ในส่วนคำอรรถาธิบายบริเวณขอบหน้ากระดาษ (marginalia) ของต้นฉบับตัวเขียนภาษาลาติน ในระยะนี้เองคำจากภาษาละตินได้เข้ามาสู่ภาษาไอริช โดยผ่านเข้ามาทางภาษาเวลส์เก่า โดยเฉพาะคำศัพท์ที่เกี่ยวกับกิจการ และฐานานุกรมของสงฆ์
