Waogiek

Waogiek (kwa jina lingine Waokiek au Waakiek, ingawa jina Akiek hutambulisha hasa tawi mojawapo la kabila hilo; waliitwa pia Wandorobo -tar. chini-), ni kabila la Waniloti linalopatikana kaskazini magharibi mwa Tanzania, kusini mwa Kenya (kwenye Msitu wa Mau), na magharibi mwa Kenya (kwenye msitu wa Mlima Elgon).

Mnamo mwaka wa 2000 idadi ya Waogiek ilikadiriwa kuwa 36,869, ingawa waongeaji wa lugha ya Kiakiek, mojawapo ya lugha za Kiniloti, walibaki kuwa takribani watu 500 tu [1]. Waogiek wengi wamebadilisha lugha zao hadi zile za wakazi wanaowazunguka: Waakiek kaskazini mwa Tanzania kwa sasa wanaongea lugha ya Kimaasai nao Waakiek walio Kinare,Kenya, wanaongea lugha ya Kikikuyu.

Waogiek ni baadhi ya kundi la makabila walio wawindaji-wakusanyaji nchini Kenya na Tanzania ambao kwao jina Dorobo or Ndorobo (jina lenye asili ya Kimaasai ambalo kwa sasa linachukuliwa kama tusi) limetumika.

Waogiek mara nyingi wametoa malalamiko yao dhidi ya serikali ya Kenya kwa kutoshughulikiwa matakwa yao, haswa kwa kunyang'anywa mashamba yao kwa njia haramu.[2]
