Avebrevicauda (što znači „ptice sa kratkim repovima”) je grupa koja obuhvata sve vrste ptica sa deset ili manje slobodnih pršljenova u repu. Ovu grupu je 2002. imenovao Gregori S. Pol da bi razlikovao kratkorepe avijale od njihovih predaka, kao što je Archaeopteryx, koji su imali duge reptilske repove.[1]
