പതിനേഴാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ഇറ്റാലിയൻ കവിയും കൊട്ടാരം പ്രവർത്തകനുമായ ജിയാംബാറ്റിസ്റ്റ ബേസിലിന്റെ ഒരു നിയോപൊളിറ്റൻ യക്ഷിക്കഥ ശേഖരമാണ് ലോ കുണ്ടോ ഡി ലി കുണ്ടി ("ദി ടെയിൽ ഓഫ് ടെയിൽസ്") എന്ന ഉപശീർഷകമുള്ള പെന്റമെറോൺ.

[തിരുത്തുക]പെന്റമെറോണിലെ കഥകൾ ബേസിൽ ശേഖരിക്കുകയും മരണാനന്തരം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരി അഡ്രിയാന ഇറ്റലിയിലെ നേപ്പിൾസിൽ 1634 ലും 1636 ലും ജിയാൻ അലെസിയോ അബ്ബാറ്റുട്ടിസ് എന്ന ഓമനപ്പേരിൽ രണ്ട് വാല്യങ്ങളായി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ കഥകൾ പിന്നീട് ചാൾസ് പെറോൾട്ടും ബ്രദേഴ്സ് ഗ്രിമ്മും ചേർന്ന് സ്വീകരിച്ചു, രണ്ടാമത്തേത് ബേസിലിന്റെ ശേഖരം വിപുലമായതും അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുമായ ഉപയോഗമാക്കി. സിൻഡ്രെല്ല, റാപുൻസൽ, പുസ് ഇൻ ബൂട്ട്‌സ്, സ്ലീപ്പിംഗ് ബ്യൂട്ടി, ഹാൻസൽ ആൻഡ് ഗ്രെറ്റൽ എന്നിവയുടെ പതിപ്പുകൾ ഇതിന് ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളാണ്.
മറ്റ് കഥാസമാഹാരങ്ങളിൽ യക്ഷിക്കഥകൾ എന്ന് വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കഥകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, എല്ലാ കഥകളും ആ ഒരൊറ്റ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ പെടുന്ന ആദ്യ സമാഹാരമാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൃതി.[1] ഒരു ആധുനിക കളക്ടർ ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ വാക്കാലുള്ള പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അവ പകർത്തിയില്ല, പകരം നെപ്പോളിറ്റൻ ഭാഷയിൽ അവ എഴുതുന്നു. കൂടാതെ അദ്ദേഹം പല കാര്യങ്ങളിലും വാക്കാലുള്ള ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ എഴുത്തുകാരനായിരുന്നു.[2]
കഥകളുടെ ശൈലി വളരെ ബറോക്ക് ആണ്, പല രൂപക പ്രയോഗങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.[3]
ഇത് ബറോക്ക് ശൈലിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആക്ഷേപഹാസ്യമായി വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ബേസിൽ ഈ ശൈലിയെ പ്രശംസിക്കുകയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മറ്റ് കൃതികളിൽ ഇത് ഉപയോഗിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതിനാൽ, ഇതിന് വിരോധാഭാസമായ ഉദ്ദേശ്യമൊന്നുമില്ലെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. [4]
