ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ഗായകനും ഗാനരചയിതാവും മനുഷ്യസ്‌നേഹിയുമാണ് ഹരോൾഡ് ഫോർസ്റ്റർ ചാപ്പിൻ (ഡിസംബർ 7, 1942 - ജൂലൈ 16, 1981). അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഫോക്ക് റോക്ക്, പോപ്പ് റോക്ക് ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റവും നന്നായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. 1970 കളിൽ ലോകവ്യാപകമായി വിജയം നേടിയ അദ്ദേഹം ഏറ്റവും ജനപ്രിയ കലാകാരന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളായും ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന പ്രതിഫലം വാങ്ങുന്ന പ്രകടനക്കാരനായും മാറി. അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ മികച്ച ചാർട്ടിംഗ് സംഗീത കലാകാരന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളാണ് ചാപ്പിൻ. ഗ്രാമി അവാർഡ് നേടിയ കലാകാരനും ഗ്രാമി ഹാൾ ഓഫ് ഫെയിം ഇൻഡക്റ്റീയുമായ ചാപിൻ ലോകമെമ്പാടും 16 ദശലക്ഷത്തിലധികം റെക്കോർഡുകൾ വിറ്റു. സംഗീത ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രിയങ്കരനായ പാട്ടുകാരനായി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചു.[1]
1972 മുതൽ 1981 വരെ മരണം വരെ മൊത്തം 11 ആൽബങ്ങൾ ചാപ്പിൻ റെക്കോർഡുചെയ്‌തു. അദ്ദേഹം പുറത്തിറക്കിയ 14 സിംഗിൾസും ഒരു ദേശീയ സംഗീത ചാർട്ടിലെങ്കിലും ഹിറ്റായി.
സമർപ്പിത മനുഷ്യസ്‌നേഹി എന്ന നിലയിൽ ലോക പട്ടിണി അവസാനിപ്പിക്കാൻ ചാപ്പിൻ പോരാടി. 1977 ൽ ലോക വിശപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രസിഡൻഷ്യൽ കമ്മീഷൻ രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നതിൽ പ്രധാന പങ്കാളിയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.[2]1970 കളിലെ ഏറ്റവും രാഷ്ട്രീയവും സാമൂഹികവുമായ അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രവർത്തകനായിരുന്നു ചാപ്പിൻ. [3][4]മാനുഷിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് 1987 ൽ ചാപ്പിന് മരണാനന്തരം കോൺഗ്രഷ്യണൽ ഗോൾഡ് മെഡൽ ലഭിച്ചു.
