കേരളത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന കടുവത്തുമ്പി കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉള്ള ഒരു കല്ലൻതുമ്പിയിനമാണ് പുള്ളിവാലൻ ചോലക്കടുവ (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Merogomphus longistigma). പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ കാട്ടരുവികളിൽ മാത്രമേ ഇവയെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളൂ. ചെറുവാലുകൾക്ക് കൊളുത്തിന്റെ ആകൃതിയും ഇളം മഞ്ഞ നിറവുമുള്ള തുമ്പിയാണ് പുള്ളിവാലൻ ചോലക്കടുവ. ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അവസാനഭാഗത്തുള്ള വലിയ മഞ്ഞ പൊട്ടും കൊളുത്തിന്റെ ആകൃതിയുള്ള ഇളം മഞ്ഞ ചെറുവാലും ഇവയെ എളുപ്പത്തിൽ തിരിച്ചറിയുവാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു.[1][2][3][4][5].
