ഗ്യാഡ്വാൾ^{[2] [3][4][5]} അഥവാ ഗ്യാഡ്വാൾ എരണ്ടയുടെ ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം Mareca strepera. ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Gadwall എന്നാണ് പേർ.

ഗഡ്‌വാൾ എരണ്ടയ്ക്ക് 46-56 സെ.മീ നീളവും 78-90 സെ.മീ ചിറകുകളുടെ അറ്റങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽ അകലവുമുണ്ട്. ആൺപക്ഷി, പെൺപക്ഷിയെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് അല്പം വലിപ്പകൂടുതലുള്ളതാണ്. ആണിന് സാധാരണ 990ഗ്രാം തൂക്കവും പെണിന് അത് 850 ഗ്രാമുമാണ്. മുട്ടയിടുന്ന കാലത്ത് ആണിന് അറ്റം കറുത്ത ചാരനിറമാണ്. ചിറകുകൾക്ക് നരച്ച ചെമ്പൻ നിറവും നല്ല വെളുത്ത നിറത്തിലുള്ള സ്പെക്കുല(speculum)വുമുണ്ട്, ഇത് പറക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് കൂടുതൽ ദൃശ്യവുമാണ്.

പ്രജനനകാലമല്ലാത്തപ്പോൾ ആണിന് ഏറെകുറേ പെണ്ണിന്റെ നിറമായിരിക്കും, ചിറകിന്റെ നിറത്തിൽ കാര്യമായ മാറ്റമില്ല. കൊക്കിന് ഓറഞ്ചുനിറം കുറവായിരിക്കും. പെണിന് മങ്ങിയ തവിട്ടു നിറമായിരിക്കും. ഇണചേരുന്ന കാലത്തല്ലാത്തപ്പോഴൊക്കെ പൊതുവേ നിശ്ശബ്ദരാണിവർ.

ഇവ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നത് യൂറോപ്പിന്റേയും ഏഷ്യയുടേയും വടക്കുഭാഗങ്ങളിലും മദ്ധ്യ വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിലുമാണ്. ഗാഡ്‌വാൾ തുറന്ന ജലാശയങ്ങളിലും ഇടതൂർന്ന പച്ചപ്പ് അതിരിട്ട ചതുപ്പുകളിലും ജീവിക്കുന്നു. കൊച്ചുകൂട്ടങ്ങളായാണ് കാണുന്നത്.
