ഓക്സിജൻ ബാർ
വിനോദ ആവശ്യങ്ങൾക്കായി ഓക്സിജൻ വിൽപന നടത്തുന്ന സ്ഥാപനമാണ് ഓക്സിജൻ ബാർ (oxygen bar). ശ്വസനസുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതിന് സുഗന്ധപൂരിതമായ വായുവാണ് പൊതുവേ ഇത്തരം കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലൂടെ വിതരണം ചെയ്യുന്നത് [1][2]. വായുമലിനീകരണം രൂക്ഷമായ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ ഡൽഹിയിൽ ഓക്സിജൻ കഫേകൾ ആരംഭിച്ചത് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ് [3][4].
ചരിത്രം
[തിരുത്തുക]1776 ൽ, അപ്പോത്തിക്കിരിയും റോയൽ സൊസൈറ്റി ഫെലോയുമായ തോമസ് ഹെൻറി അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടത്, പ്രീസ്റ്റ്റ്റ്ലിയുടെ കണ്ടുപിടിത്തം (ഓക്സിജൻ), ഫ്രഞ്ച് വൈൻ പോലെ 'ഫാഷണബിൾ' ആവും എന്നായിരുന്നു. [5]
ജൂൾസ് വെർണെ, 1870 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച എറൗണ്ട് ദ മൂൺ എന്ന നോവലിൽ ഓക്സിജൻ കഫേയുടെ വിവരണമുണ്ട്:
Do you know, my friends, that a curious establishment might be founded with rooms of oxygen, where people whose system is weakened could for a few hours live a more active life. Fancy parties where the room was saturated with this heroic fluid, theaters where it should be kept at high pressure; what passion in the souls of the actors and spectators! what fire, what enthusiasm! And if, instead of an assembly only a whole people could be saturated, what activity in its functions, what a supplement to life it would derive. From an exhausted nation they might make a great and strong one, and I know more than one state in old Europe which ought to put itself under the regime of oxygen for the sake of its health!"
1996 ൽ കാനഡയിലെ ടോറൻഡോയിൽ ഓക്സിജൻ ബാർ തുറന്നു. 1990 ആവുമ്പോഴേക്കും, ന്യൂയോർക്ക്, കാലിഫോർണിയ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രേദേശങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഇത്തരം ബാറുകൾ പടർന്നു. നാസാരന്ധ്രങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് കുഴലുകളിലൂടെ ഓക്സിജൻ കടത്തിവിട്ട് ശ്വസിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു ഇവിടങ്ങളിലെ സംവിധാനം[6].
അവകാശവാദങ്ങൾ
[തിരുത്തുക]ഓക്സിജൻ ശരീരത്തിൽ നിന്നും വിഷവസ്തുക്കളെ നീക്കം ചെയ്യുന്നുവെന്നും കാൻസർ പോലും ഭേദമാക്കാൻ കഴിവുള്ളതാണെന്നും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരുണ്ട് [7]. ശരീര പ്രതിരോധശേഷി വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു, ഗ്രഹണശേഷി ഉയർത്തുന്നു, മാനസിക പിരിമുറുക്കം കുറയ്ക്കുന്നു, തലവേദന പോലുള്ള മാനസിക അവസ്ഥകളെ ഇല്ലാതെയാക്കുന്നു എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിരവധി ഗുണഗണങ്ങളും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്. [8] എന്നാൽ, ഇതൊന്നും ശാസ്തീയമായ തെളിവുകളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവയല്ല[8]. കൂടാതെ, മനുഷ്യ ശരീരം, വായുവിലെ 21 ശതമാനം ഓക്സിജനുമായി പൊരുത്തപ്പെടാൻ തക്ക വിധത്തിലാണുള്ളത്. ശ്വാസകോശത്തിലെത്തുന്ന വായുവിൽ നിന്നും വളരെ കുറഞ്ഞ അളവിൽ മാത്രമേ ഹീമോഗ്ലോബിൻ ഓക്സിജൻ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നുള്ളൂ. അധികമായെത്തുന്ന ഓക്സിജൻ സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ ഹീമോഗ്ലോബിന് സാധ്യമല്ല എന്നതിനാൽ, കൂടിയ സാന്ദ്രതയിൽ ഓക്സിജൻ ബാറിൽ ശ്വസന വാതകം നൽകിയാലും പ്രയോജനമില്ല എന്ന് വ്യക്തം[7].
ആസ്ത്മ, എംഫസീമ എന്നീ രോഗമുള്ളളവർ, കൂടിയ അളവിൽ ഓക്സിജൻ ശ്വസിക്കുന്നത് നല്ലതല്ല എന്നാണ് മെഡിക്കൽ രംഗത്തുള്ളവർ പറയുന്നത്[8]. അളവിലധികമായി ശ്വാസകോശത്തിലെത്തുന്ന ഓക്സിജൻ പോലും കാർബൺഡയോക്സൈഡ് നർകോസിസ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുമെന്നാണ് കണ്ടെത്തൽ [9]. കൃത്രിമ വാതകത്തോടൊപ്പമെത്തുന്ന സുഗന്ധ പദാർത്ഥങ്ങളുടെ കണികകൾ ശ്വാസകോശ വീക്കത്തിന് കാരണമാകാം[8]. അമിത ഓക്സിജൻ ഡോസ് , ഓക്സിജൻ ടോക്സിസിറ്റി എന്ന അവസ്ഥയുണ്ടാക്കാം [10][11] [12] [13]. ഓക്സിജൻ നൽകാാനുപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്ന പ്രശ്നങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്. പല വ്യക്തികൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഇവയിൽ നിന്നും ശ്വാസകോശങ്ങൾക്ക് രോഗാണുബാധ ഉണ്ടാവാനുള്ള സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്[14]. സാന്ദ്രീകൃത ഓക്സിജൻ ജ്വലനത്തെ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ, തീ പിടുത്ത സാധ്യതയുള്ളതാണ്.
